Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo is visiting Ebonyi State about 7 days after suspected herdsmen killed 15 people in 3 communities across Ishielu Local Government Area.
Osinbajo who arrived at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu State was received by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
He proceeded for his onward movement to Ebonyi State where his first port of call was in Egedegede community where the Governor Dave Umahi and leaders of the community were on hand to receive him.
Still in a grieving mood, the villagers jettisoned the traditional presentation of kola nuts to their visitor and his entourage, requesting instead that Federal Government urgently intervenes and address their current plights.

Governor Dave Umahi told the Vice President that in bringing the invaders of the community to book, measures must also be put in place to forestall a recurrence
The Vice President explained that his visit was on the directives of President Buhari in order to get first hand information on what really happened with a view to ensuring justice for the victims. He assured of improved efforts at tackling the country’s security challenges.
Professor Osinbajo also took a trip to Effium Community, in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, to sympathise with the people over their losses owing to the lingering hostilities over land dispute between the two clans that make the up the community.
Osinbajo ended his visit to Ebonyi State on a prayerful note worshipping at the Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki
