Osun State Chapter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has hired auditors to investigate allegations of fraud running into several millions of Naira against its suspended chairman, Soji Adagunodo.
Acting State Chairman, Sunday Akanfe who made this known while addressing journalists in Osogbo, the state capital expressed hope that the probe would put an end to financial indiscipline and impunity in the party.
Adagunodo has however described the move as diversionary tactics designed to prop up a baseless failed petition. The State Working Committee of the party had written to him to explain how an undisclosed amount of money, running into millions of Naira was expended while he was in office.
The Acting State Chairman says the party was forced to launch a probe into the tenure of Adagunodo, following his refusal to handover the party’s property in his possession after his suspension. The party says that the probe of the suspended Chairman should however not be misconstrued as crisis within the party.
Meanwhile, the party has also inaugurated a 15-man committee headed by a former State Chairman, Bayo Faforiji, to interface with members to take decision on the party’s participation in the forthcoming local government election in the State.
