Following the impact of the deadly Coronavirus on the economy with the Federal Government proposing the slashing of the national budget by N1.5 trillion to cope with the over 50% drop in international oil prices, the Plateau State Government says it is also cutting down its spendings by 40% to cope with the shortfall in its revenue.

This announcement was made during live broadcast by the State Governor Simon Lalong after an emergency State Executive Council meeting at the Government House.

Governor Lalong who admonished citizens in the State to brace up for the harsh economic realities and be ready to make necessary sacrifices in the coming weeks and months said the new adjustment became necessary due to the impact of the Coronavirus.

The Governor said the processes of fresh employment in the State, implementation of the new National Minimum Wage of N30,000 and the consequential adjustments, funding of on-going projects among others, will be affected in the interim.
