The Abia State Police command has confirmed the arrest of a police inspector, Atule Benedict who shot dead his colleague inspector Ugwor Samuel in Umuahia, the state capital.
The two policemen from the Special Protection Unit base 15 Anambra State, were attached to the Member Representing Isialangwa North state constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, Ginger Onwusibe.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer Geoffrey Ogbonna, said the erring policeman is already in custody while case is under investigation by State CID Umuahia.

Eye witness confirmed that there was an argument between the two policemen during which Inspector Atule shot the deceased Inspector.
According to the eye witness,efforts to disarm him by other policemen in their team failed as he reportedly went berserk threatening to kill more policemen.
The suspect was later said to have escaped to unknown destination with his AK-47 riffle and later handed himself over to the State CID Umahia, where he is currently being detained.
