Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Oyo State have arrested a 17-year-old suspect over the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl in Saki.
The child, who had been reported missing, was later found by the roadside in distress and has been taken to a medical facility for treatment and psychotherapeutic care.
The Oyo State Police Command says the case was reported at the Saki Divisional Police Station at about 6 p.m. on September 17, 2026, after the three-year-old girl went missing while being retrieved from school earlier that afternoon.
Police say she was later found by the roadside in distress.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect, identified as 17-year-old Usman Dauda, allegedly took the child into his apartment and defiled her.
Detectives subsequently secured the scene, arrested the suspect and recovered what police describe as critical evidence.

The child was taken to a medical facility in Saki, where police say she is receiving treatment and psychotherapeutic care.
Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, says the case has been transferred to the Gender Desk of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation and prosecution.
The Command says it has zero tolerance for child abuse and sexual violence and will protect the identity and privacy of the child in line with the Child Rights Act.
