A 22-year- old woman, Fatima Bishir, of Sabon Layi quarters of Mashi Area Council of Katsina State, has been arrested by the police for allegedly faking the kidnap of her 5-year-old daughter to implicate her husband’s fiancée and ex-wife.
The spokesman of the command SP Gambo Isah while parading the suspect before newsmen at the command headquarters said, the woman confessed to having demanded a ransom of two million naira or kill the child.
Isah noted that, the suspect confessed to have committed the crime due to reasons that her husband is planning a remarriage
He also stated that on the 5th of July she falsely reported at Mashi division that her little daughter was missing suspecting strongly the ex-wife of her husband, another 22-year-old Aisha Musa from the same area council whom her husband wants to remarry.
The police also added that part of her confessional statement was that, she mischievously planted the cloths of her alleged missing daughter in the house of Musa where the police recovered them.
The statement added that, she confessed to be the originator of a framed text message sent to her husband threatening him to pay the sum of 2 million naira or risked his daughter being killed by the kidnappers.
Isah also said the suspect confessed to being the originator of the threat messages sent to the elder brother of the said ex-wife 28-year-old Sani Musa and her ex-husband 40-year-old Auwalu Halilu both of the same address implicating them to be among the kidnappers of her daughter.
The spokesman further said that, the suspect confessed to have taken her daughter from Mashi in Kano state with the aid of her maid to perfect the fake kidnap plot.
Nemesis according to Isah caught up with the suspect when she took the ‘supposed kidnapped daughter” to Dutsi area council where she was arrested by the police trying to abandon the child at the frontage of the house of the mother of the ex-wife implicating them of kidnapping her.

During an interview by journalists the suspect confessed to have committed the crime, but showed no remorse for her actions.
However, the police say investigation is still ongoing into the case.
