The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed 317 schoolgirls of Government Girls Science Secondary School Jangebe in Talata Mafara LGA were kidnaped by bandits on Friday.
The Police Command in a statement by the Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police, Mohammed Shehu, said the Commissioner of Police Abutu Yaro, the Force Commander Operations Hadarin Daji, Major General Aminu Bande, Commander 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army Gusau, and some State Government officials led a heavily armed re-enforcement team to Jangebe.

The Police Command hinted that the reinforcement is to complement ongoing rescue operation in the area where the students are believed to be hidden.
The CP appealed to the School Principal and the parents to be calm as joint efforts of the Police and other security agencies will assuredly yield positive results.
