Police in Kano have said that they have rescued a 15-year-old girl, Aisha Jibrin, put in solitary confinement for over ten years by her biological parents over alleged mental illness.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Haruna Kiyawa, said the mother of the victim has been arrested for further interrogation, while the father is currently at large.

Kiyawa said the young Aisha was put in the solitary room without proper feeding and healthcare, a development that has led to a loss of weight and inability to walk.
The Kano State Police Spokesman added that it took the efforts of a medical team and police detectives to rescue the victim and arrest one of the culprits.
The young Aisha is presently at the Murtala Muhammed Specialists Hospital, where she is receiving medical treatment.
