Nigeria’s House of Representatives has called for the suspension of plans by the federal government to conduct the National Population Census due to the growing insecurity in the country.
The motion moved under matters of urgent public importance by Shehu Beji from Niger state cited the displacement of many households especially in northern Nigeria as a result of insurgency, banditry and other criminal activities for the suspension.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has extended an invitation to the Chairman of the National Population Commission to brief it on the feasibility of conducting the exercise in the face of insecurity.
