Contrary to speculations, President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed that he will not make himself available for a third term in 2023.
Buhari was speaking at the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja.
The President said it was an opportunity for him to deal decisively with any law breaker as he needs not to seek anybody’s mandate again.
The President had words of commendations for the 9th National Assembly led by Ahmed Lawan referring to the lawmakers as partners in progress.
President Buhari regretted the events that led to the loss of Zamfara, Bauchi, and Adamawa States in the 2019 general elections.
He challenged party faithful to reappraise themselves and leave positive stories for future generations.
According to him, all hands must be on deck for the survival of the APC beyond 2023.
The NEC meeting is expected to endorse some of the decisions reached at the party’s caucus meeting on Thursday.
One of the decisions is the fate of former Governor Rochas Okorocha, Ibikunle Amosun, and some members of the National Working Committee who were suspended for anti-party activities.
