A major road linking farming communities in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State to neighbouring Benue State is gradually becoming accessible, following ongoing rehabilitation works by the state government.
Residents and commuters along the Yahe–Wanokom–
Wanikande–Wanihem corridor say the intervention is already easing movement and transportation challenges.
The Yahe–Wanokom–Wanikande–Wanihem road serves several agrarian communities in Yala and links Cross River to Benue State.
For years, failed portions of the corridor made movement difficult for commuters and commercial farmers.
Originally initiated during the administration of former Governor Ben Ayade, rehabilitation work on the road is now being sustained by the present administration.
Residents say the ongoing work is bringing relief to farming communities that depend heavily on the road for transportation and trade.

During an inspection visit, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, said the contractor focused on the worst affected portions of the corridor.
Governor Bassey Otu says road infrastructure remains a priority of his administration.
Residents say the gradual progress is improving access along the critical Yala–Benue corridor.
