Six bandits who repented recently have surrendered about 42 sophisticated weapons and several ammunitions to the Zamfara State government.
They laid down their arms after taking the oath with the Holy Quaran, in the presence of Governor Bello Mohammed and other stakeholders.
The repentant bandits have also asked Nigerians to forgive them and promised not to go back to banditry and unlawful activities anymore.
The weapons surrendered include 20 Ak 47 rifles, 20 magazines, one General Purpose Machine Gun, GPM, one Rocket Propelled Grenade launcher, RPG and several ammunitions.
This follows the peace initiatives introduced by Governor Bello Mohammed, to end banditry activities.
The Governor was particularly delighted with the notorious bandit, Auwalu Daudawa, and five others, for choosing the path of peace and to surrender their weapons.

Governor Bello Mohammed expressed optimism that more bandits will also accept the peace deal and surrender their arms, so that peace can be restored in Zamfara and other parts of Nigeria.
He said that the fight against insecurity is not for the state government and security agencies alone.
The Zamfara number one citizen, also sought the people’s support, so that the government can restore peace to enable the residents sleep with their two eyes closed.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran, said that the success recorded, was as a result of the synergy among the stakeholders to ensure peace in the state.
The sophisticated weapons have since been handed over to the police.
