Kano state government says the ban it imposed on activities of viewing, and event centres has now been extended to clubs, concerts, street parties and other large social gatherings as part of efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19.
A statement released by the state commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, said that all the restrictions have to be enforced to ensure safety of the people .
The commissioner said government would continue to engage all the stakeholders to sensitise the populace on the need to maintain social distancing and collective effort to combat the pandemic.
Garba threatened that the state government would not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law to bear on any person or organisation caught breaching public health regulations and protocols with regards to the control of covid19.

The commissioner pointed out that security agents have been mandated to ensure full compliance without exception.
The state government is consulting with various stakeholders including islamic scholars and tradtional rulers on the next line of action it will take in dealing with the pandemic.
