The Rivers State government is to establish an endowment fund of N10 million for each of the 9 children who did the state proud in some national schools competitions.
Governor Wike who announced the award on Thursday says he hopes other school children in the state will not only emulate their successes, but also see education as the most meaningful way of achieving their goals in life.
An elated Governor Wike met with some of the award winning school children at the government house for their outstanding feats in different national schools competitions. They did not only win laurels for the state but also outshone their counterparts from other states in competitions organised in the field of science, mathematics, computer and creative writing.
The governor did not forget to advise them on the need to concentrate on their studies and shun negative influences.
One remarkable thing about the children is the fact that they defied a lot of debilitating odds to achieve their successes.
The governor who was full of praises for them says his administration will always reward all those who excel and bring honour to rivers state.
