Speaking after giving his assent to the appropriation law, Governor Wike thanked the lawmakers for the accelerated consideration giving to the budget, saying that his administration will from the first of January commence the full implementation of the budget.
Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike there giving his assent to the 2020 appropriation bill following its passage by the state House of Assembly, the Assembly had last week approved the request made by the executive to spend over 530 billion naira in 2020.
The lawmakers say they worked night and day to give the appropriation bill accelerated sitting giving its importance to the development of the state.
The Rivers state House of Assembly also applauded some provisions made in the 2020 budget to cater especially for agriculture, youth and women empowerment.
Christened the budget of reassurance, profound impact and inclusive growth and shared prosperity, the 2020 budget has according to governor Nyesom Wike been designed to have immense impact on economic growth, infrastructure and Human capital development, job creation and security of the State and its people.

The 2020 budget has 156 billion naira earmarked as recurrent expenditure while 374 billion representing 70% of the total budget has been set aside capital expenditure.
Governor Wike assured that no part of the state will be left out in the budget implementation. The Rivers State Governor also thanked the Legislature for the support and cooperation his administration has enjoyed in the last four years.
