In Abia State, southeast Nigeria, road users and communities along Umuahia/Bende/Ohafia road are now heaving a sigh of relief as Federal Government commences rehabilitation of the road.
Also rehabilitation work by the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, is going on at the Etiti Ulo/Itumbuzo road, a road connecting Abia and Akwa Ibom.
The people of the agrarian communities while commending the federal government for coming to their rescue as the roads have been in a poor condition, called on the contractor handling the project to ensure durability.
The Federal Roads Maintenance Engineer, in charge of Abia State, Johnblaze Nwoke, said there are plans to make most of the federal roads motorable, during the Yuletide.

Recall that most of the federal roads in the state have been in a very bad condition, a situation which has brought hardship to the people.
