Former Nigeria’s Military Head Of State, General Abdul-Salami Abubakar, has disassociated himself from a helicopter, that was alleged to have been gunned down by community locals in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The helicopter was said to be supplying food items, weapons and ammunition to suspected bandits in the area.

The former Military Head of State in a statement by his media aide, Sulaiman Yakubu, described news making the rounds on social media as fake and malicious.

The statement added that, General Abdul-Salami Abubakar would have ignored such spurious news, but has to put the records straight.

It further said that such fake news has the potentials of aggravating the already tense security in the country, which should not be condoned.

The statement urged Nigerians to disregard such treacherous news report, and to also be careful with the kinds of information shared on the social media.

It called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the peaceful coexistence of Nigeria, as a united country.
