The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday confirmed the nomination of former governor of Edo State, Dr Pius Odubu as the Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
These followed the presentation and consideration of the report by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger-Delta Peter Nwaoboshi.
The Senate also cleared fourteen others nominees for the board of the commission.
The Senate however unanimously rejected the nomination of Dr Joy Nunieh as the member representing Rivers State on the board of the commission.
The nominee was said to have shunned the screening process of the committee without prior correspondence.
Dr Nunieh was recently appointed as the NDDC’s Acting Managing Director.
She heads a 3-member Interim Management Committee set up by the Federal Government for the NDDC, and she has since stepped into the role.
