Not wanting to be left behind among tertiary institutions threatening a strike, the Senior Staff of Nigeria Polytechnics, SSANIP, has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, to reverse the attempt to foist a Scheme of Service document on its members without their input.
The National President of SSANIP, Phillip Ogunsipe, while reading the communique issued at the end of an emergency executive meeting of the union in Abuja, called on relevant agencies of government to expedite actions toward resolving the crisis rocking the country’s polytechnic education.
The workers equally resolved that failure of the IPPIS to address the unions peculiarities will leave it with no option for a strike in the next 21 days.

The SSANIP said the move is not only unacceptable but would be an invitation to an atmosphere of industrial disharmony in the nation’s polytechnics.
