The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo on Wednesday inaugurated newly appointed Transition Committee Chairmen for the twenty one Local Government Areas of the State.
The event which held at the Government House, Awka, saw Governor Soludo charged the Local Council leaders to brace up and address the developmental needs of their people through collaborations with the State government in taking development to the grassroots.
The Governor therefore outlined areas that require urgent interventions and collaborations to include, the payment of gratuity arrears and waste management, among others.

Eight of the twenty one council Transition Committee Chairmen were reappointed from the last set whose tenure ended on May 19, 2024.
ait.live Correspondent in Awka recalls that Local Government Council elections were last conducted in Anambra State in January 2014, some ten years ago in the twilight of former Governor Peter Obi’s administration in the State.
