Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, says governors in the South-West region are prepared to pursue Operation Amotekun to a logical conclusion.
Akeredolu, who is the Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum, gave the assurance at the 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in Akure, the state capital.
The Governor said governors in the region are committed to the success of Amotekun security outfit to check incidents of banditry, kidnapping, and farmers-herders clashes.

Governor Akeredolu, who said Amotekun is not a para-military outfit, added that the introduction of the security outfit is to complement the efforts of other security agencies.
The Federal Government had on Tuesday, declared the much celebrated regional security outfit in the South-West, “Amotekun”, as an illegal body.
The regional security outfit was launched on Thursday last week in the former capital of the defunct western region, Ibadan, as a fresh initiative to tackle security challenges in the geo-political zone.
Although the governors in the zone publicly claimed that the outfit enjoys the support of the government at the centre, the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice put a lie to the claim.
A statement issued on behalf of the AGF, Abubakar Malami, by his Media Adviser, Umar Jibrillu Gwandu, described the setting up the “Amotekun” as not only illegal but runs contrary to the provisions of the Nigerian law.
