Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Boma Iyaye, has described the Real Madrid football academy project as one of the best things to have happened to the avalanche of talents that abound in the State, Niger Delta region, and the country at large.
Boma Iyaye who stated this during an inspection tour of the level of work done on the project, gave thumbs up to Governor Nyesom Wike for embarking on the project, thus giving footballers something to look forward to.
Although the Real Madrid academy project was conceptualized during Governor Wike’s first tenure in office, Rivers State sports Commissioner, Boma Iyaye, admits that he did not envisage the project would be what it is today.

Iyaye and the Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor, Chris Green, opined that the project which is a blend of education and sports will provide the platform for budding talents to thrive in a set up that can be likened to what is obtainable in other climes
He assured members of the Rivers State chapter of the Sports Writers Association that in no distant time, Nigeria will start reaping the dividends of the project.
The Real Madrid football academy project is near completion and will soon start admitting students into its programmes.
