The federal government is currently meeting with Two non teaching staff unions of Nigerian universities, in a bid to arrest planned strike from February 5.
Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige who is presiding over the meeting, assured the workers of government’s resolve to address their demands
The unions, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU and the Non-academic Staff union of Nigerian universities, NASU, had issued a two week strike notice over disagreements with the sharing formula of the N40 billion earn academic allowance.

The unions had held a three day nationwide protest in early January 2021, to reject an eighty and twenty percent sharing formula with the academic staff union of universities, ASUU.
The unions have also rejected the implementation of the IPPIS over failure to accommodate their peculiarities.
