Indigenous Students of Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas of Ondo State have issued a 7-Day ultimatum for the government to remit the 40 per cent derivation fund accrued to the oil-producing areas of the state for the execution of projects in the communities.
The students, who are also protesting non-payment of their bursaries, said the abandonment of their communities by the state government has left them with no other option but to embark on a peaceful protest to register their concerns.

The students further noted that several projects in the oil-producing communities have been abandoned by the government due to the non-remittance of 40 per cent of oil derivation.
Efforts to get the relevant government agents to respond to the allegations were unsuccessful.
