A suspected COVID-19 patient, who escaped from the Ondo State University Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ondo on Saturday, has returned to the facility.
Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Oluwole Ige made this known on Sunday, while addressing newsmen.
The development came after Ondo State recorded 7 confirmed cases of COVID-19. In the last 2 days, Ondo State has witnessed a rise in the number of Coronavirus cases.
Four confirmed cases of the pandemic have been recorded in less than 48 hours, including one of the suspected killers of Funke Olakunri, daughter of the leader of Afenifere, Reuben Fasoranti.
The suspect was remanded at the Owo Correctional Centre pending his trial.
Following a report on social media that a suspected COVID-19 patient escaped from the Ondo State University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ondo, the Chief Medical Director, Oluwole Ige confirmed that the said person has returned.
He said the hospital is also expecting results of some suspected COVID-19 cases.
It is hoped that residents of the State will continue to adhere strictly to various safety precautions issued by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC to curb further spread of COVID-19 in the State.
