The trial of Taraba kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala alias Wadume and six others continued before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday with a prosecution witness, Bawa James who said some of the defendants escaped from Ibi, Taraba state before they were eventually arrested.
Hamisu Bala and six other defendants are standing trial for terrorism, gun running and kidnap for ransom.
In his testimony, the witness, Assistant Superintendent of Police Bawa James, attached to the intelligence response team of the inspector general of police told the court that after one of them led some soldiers to rescue Hamisu Bala the defendants escaped from Taraba state

The Trial Judge Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako in his ruling dismissed the claims of the defendants that their statements were taken under duress.
Justice Murtala-Nyako while admitting the statements of the defendants in evidence says the prosecution has been able to establish that the statements were taken in strict compliance with police guidelines.
The court thereafter adjourned to thirteenth and twenty-second of October for continuation of trial.
