Women groups in Rivers State including the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, and Nigerian Medical Women Association have called on parents to be alive to their duties by keeping proper watch and monitor the activities of their wards and children.
Chairperson of the two groups in Rivers State,said the call became necessary following the increasing spate of rape and murder cases of the female gender in the country.
Chairperson of NWMA Vetta Agala and her counterpart in FIDANgozi Odukwe-Ighoseve,while condemning act, also called on the security agencies to make sure that the perpetrators involved rape and murder of Barakat Bello and Uwaila Omozuowa are brought to book.
They also appealed to security operatives to be proactive in attending to rape and gender base violence in good time, as time is of the essence in proving rape cases.
Ngozi Odukwe-Ighoseve, said the recent cases is a wake-up call for the advocacy of respect for people’s options to help put an end moral decay in the society.
