Despite the pronouncement by the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Sultanate, some sections of the Muslim community have gone ahead to observe the Eid prayers in Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria.
During the prayers it was observed that despite the State Government’s advise on physical distancing to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, the worshippers who came out in large numbers, failed to adhere to the rule.
The Eid-El Fitr prayers were led by Sheik Ibrahim Dahiru Bauchi to mark the end of this year’s Ramadan fast.
Members of the Tijjaniya sect of Nigeria, gathered at the residence of the renowned Islamic scholar, Sheik Dahiru Bauchi after claims of the sighting the Lunar moon of Shawwal. The Sheik admonished Muslims not to politicise religious issues.
Similarly, the Muslim Brothers of Nigeria also conducted its Eid prayers in Bauchi.
