Late former coach and captain of Nigeria’s national soccer team the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi has been described as a charismatic leader who was instrumental to the growth of football in Nigeria.
Key players in NIgeria’s soccer circles, showered encomiums on Keshi popularly known as “the big boss” at the Fourth Edition of the Stephen Keshi Memorial Lecture held in Benin City took a swipe at the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, for not having a single official present at the event to honour Keshi.
Representatives of the Deputy Governor of Edo State and the minister of youths and sports were among top dignitaries who attended the lecture.

The event was used to inaugurate the organizing committees for the fourth Stephen Keshi National Under 17 football tournament, fund raising football match and dinner award night.
The Late Stephen Keshi from Delta state, won the African Cup of Nations as a player and as a coach. He died on June 7 2016 at the age of 54.
