Truck drivers have blocked the border between Taraba and Benue States to protest illegal extortion and illegal checkpoints by security operatives on transported food items.
Some of the drivers who spoke to AIT News in the Hausa language, said the extortion which happens on the Benue axis of the boundary, is contributing to the high cost of grains.
They added that despite several dialogues with security operatives and revenue collectors on agricultural produce, the trend has continued unabated, with a continuous increase in the amount demanded from them.

They say the blockage will continue until the relevant authorities address their concerns.
The protest has caused traffic gridlock on the Taraba/Benue boundary, which leads to the South West and the South Eastern parts of the country.
