The senate of the University of Ibadan has condemned the recent protest by the SSANU and NASU of the institution over the appointment of new vice chancellor for the institution.
The condemnation was the outcome of the extraordinary meeting of the senate of the foremost tertiary institution in the country on Wednesday.
The two unions had on 28th October blocked the entrance into the institution in protest against the school management alleging high handedness in the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor.
Spokesperson of the Senate, Professor Oluyemisi Bamigboshe, SAN ,described actions of the unions as a mark of disrespect to the Vice Chancellor ,Professor Abel Olayinka and other management.

The senate also expressed confidence with the process of appointing new vice chancellor for the institution and advised the disciplinary committees to deal with all erring staff using internal mechanisms.
They also set up a delegation to parley the Minister of Education on the decisions of the senate, stressing that the appointment of a Vice Chancellor is not within the dictates of the union.
