The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has held a training workshop for journalists in Edo state on the processes and procedures for the conduct of the forthcoming Governorship Elections in the state.
The exercise INEC says is to educate the media on The modalities put in place by the commission in ensuring a free, fair and credible election.
In an opening remark, the Resident Commissioner Johnson Alalibo and Director, voters’ Education and Publicity, Nick Dazang stressed that the Commission finds it necessary to train the media personnel because of the key role they play in ensuring a peaceful society.
INEC’s Information and Voters’ Education Committee Chairman, Festus Okoye and the Head of Operations, Toyin Abegunde, said the Commission has designed a new guideline as well as technological innovations for conducting the election in the contest of the Covid-19 pandemic.
They called on key players including security agents to do their best in ensuring a successful election come September 19.
