The protesting non teaching staff who further called on the federal government and the management of the institution to come to their aid, added that they have all gone through the due process of documentation.
While responding to the demands of the protesting staff of the institution, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Obi, said the management of the institution cannot solve their problem as the solution was not within the institution.
Professor Obi stressed that the management of the institution does not have the power to employ and payroll staff.
Recall that in March 2022 and in February this year, the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions had summoned Professor Obi, over the institution’s 2019/2020 employees’ unpaid salaries.
