The Yola Electricity Distribution Company, YEDC, has advised Nigerians to cultivate the habit of conserving electricity to enhance an improved service delivery
This advice was in reaction to the protest by Yola residents on the recent hike in electricity tariff. The YEDC described the initiative by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, as Service Reflective Tariff purely based on the level of consumption of power.
The hike in electricity tariff, according to the Yola Electricity Distribution Company, is aimed at quality service delivery.
It asked customers who enjoy quality power supply to brace up to the task of paying for the electricity supply they get.
While some Yola residents welcome the change on the basis that they get the value of what they pay for, some expressed dissatisfaction.
