The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, has presented the 2020 Appropriation Bill of about 183 billion Naira to the State House of Assembly for consideration and passage into law.
The Governor said that the 2020 Budget would be used to consolidate on the gains recorded in the fight against banditry in the state.
The 2020 Budget tagged ‘Budget of Peace and Renewal’ is aimed at improving agriculture, healthcare, tertiary education, good governance, and the promotion of accountability and transparency.
A break-down of the budget shows that capital expenditure got a whopping sum of about 116.4 billion, while recurrent expenditure is about 65.8 billion Naira.
The Speaker of the State Assembly, Nasiru Muazu, pledged the commitment of members to accelerate the passage of the 2020 Appropriation Bill, to enable the state government to improve the security situation and transform the socioeconomic challenges of the state.
This is the first budget presentation of the Peoples Democratic Party administration in Zamfara State.
