The people of Nomeh community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, South East Nigeria are crying out to the authorities to save their lives over the continued pollution of their only source of water allegedly with industrial chemical from a company operating in Ituku Ozalla but discharges its wastes into the Nvuna River.
The locals who protested against what they termed the insensitive activities of the company, accused it of Polluting the River, destroying their ecosystem, negligence and making life unbearable for them.

The peace of the usually sleepy Nomeh community, known for her rich agricultural enterprise, including palm produce was jolted as the people went on a protest march.
They are worried that the only source of drinking water in the community, has been polluted by industrial chemical wastes disposed from a suspected ethanol production company operating in neighbouring Ituku Ozalla community, but discharges its dangerous wastes into the Nvuna River, which has destroyed their ecosystem, thereby making life difficult for the people.
With placards bearing series of messages, the protesters stormed the entrance gate of the company allegedly responsible for their woes, but they were locked out.
After a while, representatives of the company emerged, admitting to the environmental hazards, but claimed that the management had taken measures to protect the community from the effect of the chemical waste disposal and called for calm.
It is not yet clear whether any work is being done to clean up the already polluted Nvuna River as well as steps being taken to further avoid indiscriminate disposal of the dangerous chemical wastes..
