Nigerian Universities Adamant, Develop Academic Curricula Of Courses by 30percent

Despite opposition from the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, universities have gone ahead to develop the 30% component of the new Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards, CCMAS, by the National Universities Commission, NUC.

At a workshop in Abuja, Industry players, Academia, professional bodies, and students deliberated on  Engineering Curriculum, which aims to inject Practicals in the course of study.

Engineering practice regulator and Engineering professionals are favourably disposed to inputs that will develop a more acceptable  curriculum in engineering studies.

Artificial intelligence, AI, is one fast developing technology which has encouraged young female professor of Agric and Bioresources engineering,  Chinenye Anyadike and  civil engineer,  Uzor Onyia to put together instruments for the implementation of outcome-based education in engineering for Nigerian University students.

With expectations high in the implementation of CCMAS this September, such workshops to validate expanded area of studies in engineering, might just be coming at the right time
