The support base of Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa state has again received a boost, following the defection of members of the Seibarugu Political Dynasty, from the All Progressives Congress APC to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

At a formal declaration during a meeting with Governor Douye Diri in Government House, Yenagoa, they say they were attracted to the PDP by the governor’s leadership style which has been peaceful and development-oriented.

The influential political group comprising thousands of members across the state was led by a former Acting Governor and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Werinipre Seibarugu who had last month September 12 given nod to Governor Diri’s second term bid.

At a meeting with the Governor, the coordinator of the Seibarugu Dynasty, Ebiye Waripamo, says their return to the PDP was to join hands with the Governor to move Bayelsa forward, pledging their commitment to deliver the party at the poll.

The Governor alongside the leadership of the PDP in the state received the defectors assuring that the door of the party was wide open to accommodate all.

In a related development, stakeholders from Okoroma Clan in Nembe council area of the state were also at Creek Haven to pledge their loyalty to the Governor ahead of the election.

The Governor wants the Okoroma people to replicate the same energy they did for the PDP during the last general election in the forthcoming November 11th exercise and even more.
