Gov’ship Election: CDS Promises Credible, Violence Free Polls In Kogi State

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Mustapha, on a working visit to Kogi State, North Central Nigeria has assured the people who are preparing for an off-cycle governorship election that the Armed Forces would be fully on the ground to ensure a peaceful, violence-free exercise on November 11, 2023, in the State.

Gen. Mustapha who met with Governor Yahaya Bello at the Lugard House, Lokoja on Thursday, warned that the military will not hesitate to punish any of its officers found wanting in the discharge of his or her responsibility during the poll.

Governor Yahaya Bello assured the Military Defence Chief that he would work within the directives of President Bola Tinubu in achieving a violence-free election, noting that his administration had made security a topmost priority since the assumption of office.

The visit by the Chief of Defence Staff to Kogi state is part of the military efforts to ensure smooth conduct of the November 11 elections coming up in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states.
