Australia Open: Elise Mertens, Aruna Sabalenka win women doubles’ title

Belgian Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus won the Australian Open women’s doubles title after beating two Czech players, Barbra Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova 6-2 6-3 in Melbourne on Friday.

The second seeds, winners of the 2019 U. S open doubles’ crown, were always in control against the third seeds, breaking serve three times in the opening set before taking it 6-2.

In the second set, they achieved the decisive break in the eighth game to lead 5-3 and wrapped up the match in the next game on their fourth championship point after 81 minutes of play.

two time grand slam winner Naomi Osaka will confront Jessica Brady for the coveted prize in the women’s singles.

Naomi completed a double-over record chasing Serena Williams in the semi-final. She defeated the 23 grand slam winner in 2018 to win the 2018 U.S.Open
In the Men’s event, Novak Djokovic will be gunning for his ninth title at Melbourne Park, the top seed awaits the winner in the semi-final between fourth seed Danil Medvedev and Stefano Tsitsipas who ousted Rafael Nadal.
