National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, says it will resume its suspended nationwide indefinite strike from Monday next week.

President of the Association, Okhuaihesuyi Uyilawa who stated this in a communique at the end of the National Executive Council meeting in Umuahia, Abia State, South-East Nigeria said their decision was a result of the failure of the Federal Government to implement the Memorandum of Actions 113 days after they suspended the previous action.

The Council also demanded the immediate withdrawal of the circular from the Federal Ministry of Health, removing house officers from the scheme of service.

The Resident Doctors also expressed displeasure over the delay in payment of their salaries and the condition of service of their colleagues under the employment of some state governments who are currently being owed arrears of salaries.

The Association used the opportunity to apologize to Nigerians for the hardship the strike might cause them as they have waited for the government to respond to their requests.
