The Kwara State PDP Youth Leader, Adio Odunjo Friday, has demanded greater accountability, improved security and expanded opportunities for young people, declaring that Kwara youths will no longer remain silent on issues affecting their future.

Speaking at a press conference in Ilorin the state capital to mark International Youth Day 2026, Odunjo said the February 2026 attacks on Woro and Nuku communities, in which more than 160 people were reportedly killed, must never be forgotten.

While commending security agencies for rescuing 167 residents allegedly held captive for about six months, Odunjo demanded answers on the state’s early-warning systems, intelligence sharing and measures to prevent a recurrence.

He also cited the 2025 Eruku church attack, where 38 worshippers were reportedly abducted and three killed, calling for intelligence-led security, effective surveillance, rapid response and stronger community engagement.

Linking insecurity to education, the PDP youth leader referenced the temporary closure of the Kwara State College of Education, Oro, and urged authorities to provide a clear reopening plan and academic support for affected students.

On governance, Odunjo demanded greater transparency in public procurement, including the publication of contract details, contractors, costs, locations, timelines and implementation status.

He said that as another electoral cycle approaches, Kwara youths will demand “policies, programmes, performance and results” rather than political slogans.
