The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, has expressed sympathy with his Bayelsa State counterpart, Senator Douye Diri and the people of the state over the flood disaster as he donated the sum of one hundred million naira to the state government to assist victims.
The Akwa Ibom State Governor who visited the state to commiserate with the people over the unfortunate situation also commended Governor Douye Diri over the steps taken so far in visiting and showing support to the victims.
Governor Udom Emmanuel was received by Governor Douye Diri at the state’s International Airport before proceeding to Creek Haven.
The Governor noted that the decision to support Bayelsa State at these trying times was part of resolutions reached by members of the Akwa Ibom state executive council, after viewing video clips that showed the negative impacts the flood was having on the people.

The Bayelsa Governor, Senator Douye Diri was full of gratitude to his Akwa Ibom counterpart, adding that the period was one of the saddest in state’s history.
The entourage later visited the Internally Displaced Persons Camp at Igbogene where tens and thousands were now taking refuge.
