3-year-old Bauchi teenager, and grandparents

Here is a heart-touching story of a thirteen-year-old teenage girl, Vasty, who was electrocuted on her way back from the farm with her poor old grandparents in Yelwa Kagadama, as a result of a fallen 33 KVA High Tension electric pole in Bauchi State North East Nigeria.

Vasty was said to have been returning home with her old grandparents when the accident happened.

The poor grandparents of Vasty are calling on wealthy individuals and the government for help, as they alleged neglect by the Jos Electricity Distribution Company.

The parents of Vasty are low-income earners.

According to them, Vasty’s grandfather is a retired Civil servant.

When ait.live visited Vasty, she was found alone in the house, feeling thirsty, as she tried to draw water from a well, despite her condition.

Four months after, her family of Vasty could not cater for her hospital bills.

They had to take her home for cheap traditional treatment, as her sister narrates.

Thirteen-year-old Vasty told ait.live that she was in Primary Three when the accident happened.

Helpless Vasty is calling for help.

Vasty’s sister explained the efforts being put in by the Jos Electricity Distribution Company.

Hafeez Hassan, the Regional Manager of Jos Distribution Company said he is newly posted to the Bauchi Office.

Vasty is looking for urgent attention for medical treatment and to get herself back to school and run her normal life again.

There is a need for urgent assistance for Vasty from the relevant authorities.
