The Kano State Executive Council has dethroned the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
Emir Sanusi was dethroned for alleged disloyalty to Kano State Government.

Secretary to the Kano State Government, Usman Alhaji, made the announcement after a special meeting of the Executive Council.
Sanusi was accused of total disrespect to lawful instructions from Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and other lawful authorities.
Kano State Government said the dethroned Emir refused to attend official meetings and programmes without any lawful justification.
Authorities said actions and inactions of dethroned Emir amount to total insubordination.
