The Cross River State Government has accused the Federal Ministry of Health and the Nigeria Centre Diseases for Control (NCDC) of plotting to import positive test kits and cartridges into Calabar through the Nigerian Navy Hospital to enable the state record COVID-19 index case.
The State Commissioner for Information, Asu Okang made the allegation at a media briefing in Calabar, the state capital.
Okang asked the Navy to resist the ploy to transmit the virus to the people of Cross River State; describing the move by the Health Ministry and NCDC as suspicious and unacceptable.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Health and Chairman of COVID-19 Taskforce Response Team, Betta Edu said the State Government will resist any attempt to inflict COVID-19 index case on the state in the guise of conducting training to test cases.

Cross River is the only state yet to record any confirmed index case of COVID-19 in Nigeria; a status it vows to maintain.
