The Ebonyi State Government has suspended the state chapter of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, from operating in the state.
The suspension follows the failure of the Union to formally communicate to the state of its operations in the state, as well as its recent fracas with the state Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW.
The Secretary to the State Government, Kenneth Ugbala, announced the suspension while briefing reporters on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting held in Abakaliki, on Wednesday.
Ugbala said the activities of the RTEAN would no longer be allowed in the state until the government is convinced that the operations of the transport union will not pose a threat to the peace of the state.
