Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has tasked the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, CP, Philip Ogbadu to ensure that the state is free of criminal elements.
The Governor who gave this charge when the Commissioner of Police paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Benin City also expressed dismay that no reasonable progress has been made in the investigation into the jailbreaks which occurred when the EndSARS protests were hijacked in Benin City, last year.
He urged the newly deployed Police Commissioner to work with the State Government so as to ensure that the state was free of criminal elements.
The Governor decried the seemingly slow progress recorded by the State Command in the resolution of high profile crimes committed in recent times.
He was particular about the jailbreaks which occurred when the EndSARS protest in the state was hijacked and the recent situation where inmates allegedly walked out on the Police Command Headquarters.
