Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, southeast Nigeria, has commended the federal government for its ongoing Women Empowerment intervention program in the State.
Ugwuanyi made the commendation at the flag off of the federal government cash grant empowerment programme for rural women project in Enugu State.
Represented by the State Deputy Governor, Cecilia Ezilo, the Enugu State Governor, describes the federal government initiative as a welcome development, despite the economic challenges facing the country.

The Governor urges the beneficiaries who are going home with twenty thousand naira each, to be creative with the fund.
The permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Bashiru Nura Alkali, who represented President Mohammadu Buhari, explained that the initiative is one of the national social investment programmes of the present administration.
About one thousand, eight hundred women in Enugu State, are to benefit from this phase of the programme.
