Federal Government contractors with the Project Development Institute, PRODA, Enugu, stormed the National Assembly Complex on Wednesday in protest against the continuous refusal by the supervising Ministry of Science and Technology, to settle roughly N8 billion outstanding for constituency projects completed since December 2020.
For several hours, the protesters took over the main entrance of the National Assembly Complex, chanting solidarity songs.
The leader of the group, Joy Uche, lamented how hard it has been for them to take care of their families and that some of them have even died in the process of trying to get their entitlements.
Another contractor, Favour Emenike, said they have come to the National Assembly to plead with their elected representatives to come to their rescue and prevail over the Minister, Ogbonnaya Onu, to pay them.
